For Dr. Ivan Chan, dentistry has always been more than a profession -- it's a calling shaped by family, community, and a deep desire to make a difference. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Sacramento, Dr. Chan grew up surrounded by dentistry.
Coming from a family of dentists, he witnessed early on how oral health could transform not just smiles, but lives. Those experiences inspired him to pursue a path where science, skill, and compassion come together.

From Student to Dentist
His journey began at the University of California, San Diego, where he majored in Biology. While there, Dr. Chan found purpose beyond the classroom, volunteering with Student-Run Free Dental Clinics that provided care for underserved communities in San Diego. It was during this time that he realized dentistry was not only about teeth -- it was about restoring dignity, confidence, and hope.
Driven to expand his knowledge, Dr. Chan continued his education at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. At UCSF, he received advanced training in preventive, restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentistry, equipping him with the skills to serve patients with a wide range of needs.

When he's not helping patients at Glendale Dental Wellness, Dr. Chan enjoys life's simple joys -- watching basketball, exploring local breweries, and traveling to new cities and countries. He believes balance outside of work makes him a better dentist inside the office, allowing him to approach each day with energy, empathy, and focus.
